Nusenda Credit Union has again been named by its employees as the Albuquerque Journal No. 1 Top Workplace in New Mexico. Not only has Nusenda been consistently ranked since the award began ten years ago, but this also marks the second year in which the credit union has been ranked No. 1 in its Large Business category.
“We are honored to be recognized for our dedication to our Nusenda team and are proud to be listed among the many other outstanding New Mexico businesses,” said Nusenda President/CEO Joe Christian. “Supporting our employees and providing a best-in-class workplace culture remains a top priority for our credit union.”
Employees noted that Nusenda’s focus on making a positive difference for its members and the community is a key differentiator. Additionally, the credit union focuses on the well-being of employees and their families by offering outstanding health and wellness benefits, generous retirement options, tuition reimbursement, family-friendly policies, and much more. Employee professional development, competitive salaries, and a caring and flexible approach to hybrid work and hardship stand out as other positives for employees.
Nusenda CEO Joe Christian also received a 2022 Top Workplaces’ Special Leadership Award after being recognized by his employees for his patience, listening ability, and demeanor. When surveyed, employees noted their appreciation for his openness to educating employees on matters like LGBTQ rights, Black History Month and other important issues. Christian commented, “I credit our entire leadership team for this recognition. I am grateful for their continuous learning and dedication, and their passion for people and Nusenda’s culture.”
Nusenda Credit Union employs more than 700 New Mexicans. It hired 156 new employees in 2021 and continues to expand its workforce in 2022 to support its growing presence across the state. Most recently the credit union added a new location at DeVargas Center in Santa Fe, with a Southside location opening in Santa Fe later this year.
Survey results are collected by Energage who manages the employee surveys to evaluate employers on delivering a positive workplace culture and cultivating employee engagement. Public, private, nonprofit, and governmental employers in the state were invited to have their employees take the survey and questions were focused on alignment, coaching, connection, engagement, leadership, performance, and basic company information such as pay, benefits, work/life flexibility, and training.
