Albuquerque, N.M. – Michelle Dearholt, Nusenda Credit Union’s Executive Vice President of Operations, was honored as a Diverse Business Leader by Albuquerque Business First. This award recognizes leaders that embody what it truly means to champion diversity and inclusion in relation to professional achievement, contributions to the community, and leadership qualities.

In 2020, Michelle championed efforts to formalize a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program at Nusenda and develop a charter establishing a DE&I Advisory Council. The credit union regularly features employee stories that share people’s diverse heritage and experiences, including Michelle’s as a proud Asian American. More recently, she led the hiring of the credit union’s first Chief Learning & Diversity Officer, Erica Barreiro. With Michelle’s leadership and support Nusenda continues to cultivate a diverse and inclusive workplace that empowers employees to create positive change.
Nusenda’s focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to supporting members and community partners. Nusenda is a Community Development Financial Institution and is BankOn Certified, both designations that recognize service to underserved, low-income, and minority communities, across the state.
