Nusenda Credit Union named No. 1 Top Workplace by Albuquerque Journal

Albuquerque, N.M. – Nusenda Credit Union has been named by its employees as the Albuquerque Journal No. 1 Top Workplace in the large company category. Nusenda has been consistently ranked since the award’s inception 12 years ago, and this is the third time it holds the top spot.

“We are honored to be recognized for our dedication to the Nusenda team and are proud to be listed among other outstanding organizations,” said Nusenda Credit Union President and CEO Joe Christian. “We hear time and time again how new employees join and tenured employees stay because of our culture. The combination of an extraordinary group of people that care about each other and the community with an environment that nurtures these values sets us apart. These same values and care ensure we deliver financial support and products that meet our members’ needs. We are delighted when delivering on our values results in recognitions and high member loyalty. Doing the right thing for each other, our members, and community is what drives Nusenda employees.”

Nusenda is committed to an inclusive, supportive, and innovative workplace. Employees have access to continuing education, professional development opportunities, employee resource groups, and celebratory events. Its outstanding health and wellness benefits, generous retirement options, tuition reimbursement, family-friendly policies, and other offerings help take care of employees.

Volunteerism is a core value at Nusenda, and the Credit Union supports employee participation in individual, departmental, and organizational community give-back efforts. Employees receive money to donate to their favorite local organizations and are provided with 16 hours of paid volunteer time annually. In 2023, employees generously volunteered over 5,300 hours and donated nearly $20,000 to support causes they care about.

Survey results are collected by Energage and evaluate employers on delivering a positive workplace culture and cultivating employee engagement. Public, private, nonprofit, and governmental employers in the state were invited to have their employees take the survey. Questions focused on alignment, coaching, connection, engagement, leadership, performance, and basic company information such as pay, benefits, work/life flexibility, and training.
