Hundreds of Nusenda employees volunteer for eighth annual “Community Day”

Albuquerque, N.M. – Nusenda Credit Union employees once again celebrated today’s federal holiday by participating in volunteer work in New Mexico and West Texas for their eighth annual Community Day. Over 500 employees participated, volunteering over2,000hours at a total of twelve projects located across Albuquerque , Santa Fe, Taos, Socorro, Deming, Las Cruces, and El Paso.

 

“We are unwavering in our commitment to making a positive difference in the communities we serve,” said Nusenda President and CEO Joe Christian. “Community Day is a wonderful opportunity for our employees to give back by collaborating with local nonprofits.”

 

Employees volunteered with thirteen community partners:

  • Rebuilding Together Sandoval County
  • Habitat ABQ ReStore
  • PB&J Family Services
  • Habitat for Humanity, Santa Fe
  • Kitchen Angels
  • Habitat for Humanity, Taos
  • El Ranchito de Los Niños
  • Cruces Creatives
  • Colores United El Pasoans Fighting Hunger
  • NMCAN
  • New Mexico Friends of Foster Children

“Kitchen Angels is a volunteer driven organization. We simply can’t accomplish our mission without them, said Tony McCarty, Executive Director of Kitchen Angels.  “Thank you to Nusenda Credit Union for choosing to spend 2024 Community Day with us.”

 

In addition to Community Day, Nusenda supports communities in New Mexico and West Texas through their Community Rewards grant program, financial education initiatives, volunteer opportunities for employees, and sponsorships. Each year, they provide employees with 16 paid volunteer hours to support initiatives they care about. In 2023, Nusenda gave more than $1.9 million in grants and sponsorships to support organizations addressing critical needs.
