Albuquerque, N.M. – The Nusenda Foundation recently announced its 2024 Community Rewards grant recipients, awarding $700,000 in funding to 72 organizations dedicated to creating positive change and fostering economic opportunities across New Mexico and, for the first time, West Texas.
“This year’s Community Rewards grants reflect Nusenda’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities we serve,” said Joe Christian, President and CEO of Nusenda Credit Union. As our membership now extends into West Texas, we are proud to support this region for the first time.”
Sara Keller, Nusenda’s Senior Vice President of Community Engagement and Executive Director of Nusenda Foundation, remarked, “We are honored to work alongside these organizations who perform crucial work in their communities.”
Nusenda’s Community Rewards program is a unique partnership between the Credit Union and its member-owners. Members who make ten or more signature-based transactions each month using their Nusenda Visa® debit cards earn cash back while also contributing to the grant program. Members can direct their contributions geographically and choose to support one of five focus areas: education, healthcare, environment and wildlife, the arts, and community service. The funds are then distributed through grants that empower local nonprofits addressing critical needs in communities across New Mexico and West Texas.
In 2023, the Foundation awarded $634,100 to 108 programs. This year’s increased funding and regional expansion underscore the Foundation’s dedication to supporting impactful initiatives that drive meaningful change.
